Development of Enhanced Services Tailored to the Needs of the Local Population
These will be defined largely by the needs of the local population (to be derived from the community health needs analysis in consultation with the PCT). It would not be possible to define what these might be without more detailed analysis of the need.
Nevertheless, we can usually assume that the following enhanced services would be required:
Quality information preparation
Improvement and maintenance of high quality information is essential to the provision of high quality services. Using our unique electronic patient registration questionnaire and our well-tested records summarisation systems we will ensure that all our (electronic) patient records are complete and summarised from the moment they register.
Caring for violent patients, homeless patients, and patients with drug and alcohol problems
As we target our services at deprived areas, we have developed considerable experience in working in liaison with statutory and voluntary agencies to help manage the health care needs of violent patients, drug and alcohol misusers. This is a good example of where partnership working can bear fruit: improving quality of care and access, while reducing burdens on other health care provision.
Other enhanced services to be delivered
We would be happy to provide the following:
- Anti-coagulation monitoring
- Intra-uterine contraceptive device fitting
- Minor injury service
- Specialised sexual health services
- Provision of near patient testing (shared care)
- Specialised care of patients with depression
- Smoking cessation
