Patient Held Records

Out of the initial new patient registration check, patients may take up the option of carrying copies of their own health records. We encourage this as these act both to educate patients about their health conditions, and also involve patients in delivery of their own health care. In this respect, patients are the most under-utilised resource in the NHS.

Once a patient has their own set of records, it will be up to the patients to ask for copies of consultations, letters, results etc, but all BK Health sites should make it easy for patients to be able to get printouts at any time. It is acceptable for patients to be asked to cover the costs of this, but profit should not be made.
